Christmas vacation was so much fun this year. We spent a total of about 7 or 8 days at the cabin with a 3 day break in the middle so Chad could get in a little work. It snowed like crazy. Here are a few pictures.
One day we headed out on our snow shoes and hiked around for a couple hours. The snow was up to my thighs and coming down hard. It was so beautiful. Huge white flakes and pine treed covered mountains as far as you can see. I just love the mountains, and am always in awe of their beauty. Chad and the kids started to build an igloo, but gave up after a while. The snow was just so powdery it wouldn't pack together at all.
So then we entertained ourselves by making snow cones. I happened to have some pina colada flavored syrup in the cupboard. We scooped up cups of the fresh snow and doused them in syrup. Not as yummy as we'd hoped, but still very entertaining. We all staked out a comfy spot in the snow and made ourselves each a little throne to sit on while we enjoyed our pina coladas amidst the silent blizzard happening all around us. Then back inside to a cozy little fire, some warm blankets and a good movie.

Nothing like a snow cone made of fresh snow while sitting in the snow.

That is a lot of snow! The snow-cone was a genius idea. Way to find a new way to enjoy all the powder.
