1. Saturday we all rode bikes to the park. We were geared up to spend the morning teaching Luke to ride without training wheels. We took the training wheels off his bike, and laid out our plan of attack. Chad gave him one piece of advice. "Just keep pedaling. Don't stop pedaling." We steadied the bike to help him on and..... he took off. He just started riding. On his second try he was pedaling around the whole park. !!What in the heck!! He's our 4th child to teach to ride a bike, and that's never even come close to happening before. No tears, no skinned knees, no nervousness, or intimidation. He just got on and did it.
So in true Roland style we figured if a little park trail was good, the interstate centennial trail was better. The very next day we decided to ride our bikes to grandma and grandpa's house in Post Falls. We got on the trail, all on our bikes including Luke, and rode 10 miles to their house. Not one word of complaint. His little legs were just pumping away, up hill and down hill all the way there. It was the cutest thing ever. After dinner he was begging to ride the trail back, but we had to leave our bikes at grandma's and race home for a meeting.
Anyway, in my experience, I haven't seen anything quite like it. I guess it helps to have three older siblings to keep up with.
2. We were laying in bed in the morning and Luke crawled in with us. Abbie babysat the kids the night before. This was the conversation:
Luke..."Dad, if Abbie gives you a good report about me from last night, will you give me some money?"
Chad..."I don't know, you'll have to ask mom about that."
Luke... "So I guess mom's in charge of the money?"
Chad... "Yep"

That last conversation is so funny it actually got me to click on a blog and comment. Made my day. Still laughing.
